The Toronto Maple Leafs is one of the original six teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). The huge fan base of the team was the reason behind the high Leafs tickets sales since they started. There is a reason behind the fan craze for the team has won 13 championships. They also have 13 Stanley Cups to brag about. However, since the NHL expansion in 1967, the Leafs have not won a single Stanley Cup. They are the only team from the Original Six who has not have gotten their hands on the Stanley Cup since the expansion. The 1967 Stanley Cup was the last for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Even though they have not won the Cup, the fans are still lining up to watch the team play.
The team played in Maple Leafs Garden for 68 years before moving into Air Canada Center in1999. The new arena has accommodated the Leafs fans eagerly buying the
Leafs tickets to watch the team play in front of the glass or up in the stands. The Leafs won their third Stanley Cup when they first played in the Maple Leafs Garden in 1931.
The Leafs have not failed to provide a great game to watch. The way they play has been enough for the fans to be satiated despite the lack of Stanley Cup win. They have played well and have acquired players that performed well in the past years. This was enough of a reason for
Leafs tickets to be sold out immediately.
The team transfered to their new arena in the start of the new millennium. With the move, the Leafs won their first division title in 37 years. In 2003-2004, it was as if the team has made a comeback by getting the fourth best record in the league. They have attained a 0.628 win average which was the best they had in 43 years.
In 2008, the Leafs hired Brian Burke, the first American General Manager in team's history. Burke changed the rooster for the team by hiring Phil Kessel and relinquishing Seguin and Knight to the Boston Bruins as trade. In 2010, Burke traded Sjostrom, Aulie and Phaneuf in exchange of Hagman, Stajan and Mayers to the Calgary Flames. They also traded Stalberg, Didomenico and Paradis for the Blackhawks' Versteeg. These bold moves of Burke are to have a team that would once again reign in the ice and quench their thirst for a Stanley Cup.
